January 19 another day at sea

We're still at sea but getting closer to land. The day is filled with lectures and other diversions - a quiz, a tasting of Italian charcuterie and French pastries and always there's something on in the theatre at night  - but we haven't braved that yet choosing instead to catch up on photos etc.

Italian charcuterie and citrus cocktails

Talking of which we have two professional photographers on board giving lecture and workshops on how to get the most out of your camera.  These photographers travel the world on expeditions such as this helping passengers. One of them is Sue Flood an award-winning photographer and filmmaker who worked for 11 years with the BBC’s Natural History Unit including with Sir David Attenborough. We have been so fortunate on these expeditions. On the last two expeditions we have had another filmmaker from BBC, Ian McCarthy. Their work is inspirational but the landscape through which we are navigating is rather inspirational and spectacular and beckons you outside to try to capture the glorious vistas sliding passed.

Land at last!
Something that we all look forward to each day is the recap and then the briefing for the next day. This evening the plan promises to be exciting - weather permitting we will make our first Antarctic landing on Stonington Island a small island in the NE part of Marguerite Bay along Graham land.
